Marsupella commutata in Romania

 

Marsupella commutata (Limpr.) Bernet

Romania: Southern Carpathians: Făgăraş Mountains, Urlea glacial ring, Braşov County, 45°35'44"N, 24°50'32"E, 2200 m a.s.l., on detritic acidic rock, along with Gymnomitrion concinnatum (Lightf.) Corda., leg. S. Ştefănuţ, 17 September 2001, det. S. Ştefănuţ (2003), conf. T. Blockeel (BUCA B947). Bucegi Massif: Babele Mountain, in alpine zone, on soil, 2140 m, 45°24'38"N, 25°28'36"E, 07.09.2006, coll./det. S. Ştefănuţ (BUCA B3549), sterile plants.

This species was recently reported as new for Romania from Făgăraş Massif (Ştefănuţ 2004). Bucegi is the second Massif where this species was found (Ştefănuţ 2007).

Elsewhere in Europe the species is distributed in Iceland, France, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Slovakia, Italy (Söderström, Urmi & Váňa, 2002) and Germany (Müller, 1957). The species is vanished from Italy, rare in Switzerland and indeterminate in Slovakia. In Romania, Marsupella commutata can be considerated as a vulnerable species.
