“THE
BIOGEOGRAPHY OF SPRINGTAILS IN THE CARPATHIAN MOUNTAINS WITH DETECTING OF
DIVERSITY HOTSPOTS, GLACIAL REFUGIA AND POSTGLACIAL COLONIZATION PATTERNS”
Director proiect:
Dr.
Cristina Fiera,
CS1
The
main goal is to understand and to know the ecological processes that
drive the diversity patterns of Collembola communities, especially for
threatened species, looking for discovering of dispersal routes,
colonization sources and glacial refugia in Carpathians Mountains.
The project will be implemented
along the following secondary objectives:
1.
to evaluate springtail species of Romanian
Carpathian Mountains according to the IUCN Red List criteria (2012):
Critically Endangered (CR), Endangered (EN) and Vulnerable (VU);
2.
to reveal cryptic species in the case of some
Carpathian genera of Collembola, especially for
Hymenaphorurini tribe;
3.
to infer environmental correlates of present and
past springtail biogeography in the Carpathian Mountains;
4.
to identify possible dispersal routes, colonization
sources and glacial refugia for Carpathian Collembola;
5.
to detect biodiversity hot spots across Romanian
Carpathian Mountains based on different criteria: total richness,
vulnerability, and endangerment.
